WRAP’s household food waste collections resources aim to support you through every stage of service delivery from initial design and procurement of vehicles and containers through to implementation and engagement with citizens.
Guidance and resources have been developed using the data and evidence gained through the delivery of local authority pilots and our technical support, along with learning from the experience of others who have been through the process and are delivering successful services.

HOUSEHOLD FOOD WASTE COMMUNICATIONS GUIDANCE
Love Food Hate Waste
Love Food Hate Waste is a national brand aimed at radically reducing the amount of food wasted in UK homes.
Currently, 60% of the food that is wasted in the UK is wasted by citizens in their own homes. That’s 4.7 million tonnes of food being thrown away every year that could have been eaten.
At Love Food Hate Waste, we unite, educate, and inspire citizens to keep food out of the bin and on their plates. We challenge attitudes, behaviours and mindsets to ensure citizens know the value of food: buying what they need, eating what they buy, and storing their food to make it last longer.
Underpinned by robust research, we work with local authorities and strategic partners to build and deliver insightful citizen campaigns with high impact messaging and assets throughout the year including the flagship Food Waste Action Week.
Food Waste Action Week 2026 is taking place 9-15 March 2026 – save the date and get involved! To keep up-to-date visit the Love Food Hate Waste website
