Route optimisation is a key part of designing efficient and effective waste and recycling collection services. Whilst local authorities often manage minor route changes internally, more significant service redesigns such as the introduction of new services or changes to frequency of collections are likely to require a strategic review supported by specialist software or external expertise.
This guidance, developed by WRAP and supported by Defra, aims to support local authorities navigate this process.
