UK Food and Drink Pact Annual Progress Report 2024-25

The UK Food and Drink Pact Annual Progress Report 2024-5 sets out the last year's achievements in reducing food waste, greenhouse gas emissions and  protecting water resources.

The UK Food and Drink Pact Annual Progress Report 2024-5 shows what's possible when industry, government and civil society unite to build a sustainable food system. We’ve made progress over the last year. But the race to 2030 is far from over. The Report maps out how to accelerate action and expand collaboration, to make the next four years our most ambitious and impactful yet. 

UK Food and Drink Pact progress at a glance

  • 88% of businesses on the Food Waste Reduction Roadmap have set a waste reduction target.
  • Using the Target-Measure-Act methodology, some businesses have achieved a 40% reduction in food waste, with one business saving £77k over the year.
  • 59% of businesses are achieving reductions in food waste relative to their baseline year.
  • 110 businesses, (up from 65), have committed to action on Water across 10 Global Collective Action projects.
  • 1.7 billion litres of water have been replenished back to nature through project interventions.
  • 56% of businesses in the Water Roadmap have identified water risk hotspots in their supply chain.
  • 83% of businesses reporting data this year have set a company GHG reduction target.
  • 60% of businesses reporting data this year are developing or have developed climate transition plans.

What your business can do to progress the UK Food and Drink Pact Targets  

The UKFDP is engaging with the whole food and drink supply chain from growers to manufacturers to retailers.
Get involved in our programmes such as the Food Waste Reduction Roadmap, the Water Roadmap and LED4Food and help us strengthen our impact through the UK Food and Drink Pact in the year ahead.

  • Signatories - act. You’ve committed to the Pact. Now is the time to deepen that commitment. Don’t lose sight of your commitment: measure and share data, and scale proven solutions across your operations and supply chains. Together, we can turn promising progress into system-wide change.
  • New businesses – join us. If you’re not yet part of the Pact, this is your moment. Joining gives you access to the tools, insights, and collaborative networks that will future proof your business and help shape a food system that works for people, planet, and profit.
  • Funders – invest. Your support enables this progress and the projects and innovations that deliver measurable change, from nature-based solutions in global catchments to cutting-edge data systems that unlock farm-level progress.
