This guidance, developed by WRAP and supported by Defra, is designed to help local authorities in England implement the Simpler Recycling requirements. In particular, it supports the introduction of separate collections for aluminium foil and aluminium food trays from all households, including flats, from 31 March 2026.
Both aluminium foil and aluminium food trays are included within the metal waste stream in Part 3 of Schedule 1 of The Separation of Waste (England) Regulations 2024
