Love Food Hate Waste International

Why we need global action on food waste

  • About one-third of the food produced in the world goes uneaten each year [1],
  • Of this, more than half a billion tonnes of food waste comes from households [2],
  • Citizen food waste is an issue across the globe, and it will take a concerted and collaborative effort if we’re to be successful in reducing it.

Our aim is...

To drive a measurable reduction in citizen food waste globally by supporting organisations around the world to gain the skills, knowledge and connections they need to effectively engage citizens through communications and behaviour change interventions.

Love Food Hate Waste Licensing

The Love Food Hate Waste campaign was first launched in the UK in 2007 in a bid to tackle citizen food waste. Following its success in the UK, WRAP now licenses the brand to international partners to support delivery of national food waste prevention policies in their own countries.

Love Food Hate Waste is a strong brand, run well with strong research and a sound approach.

Our Love Food Hate Waste Network

Alongside the brand licensing, WRAP also manages the Love Food Hate Waste International Network. We convene an active group of passionate and committed individuals from around the world to help them to learn, develop their skills and most importantly take action.

Through virtual meetings, a dedicated Teams channel and an online sharing space for resources, members openly share their knowledge, ideas, best practice, campaign assets and campaign results.  We also collaborate to deliver joint activity such as in Food Waste Action Week or on International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste.

The LFHW Network is highly valuable to learn from peers within the food waste behaviour change space. It has a strong brand in the industry and community.

As well as providing an opportunity for members to showcase their campaigns and share their learnings, we regularly welcome external experts to speak at our meetings, ensuring everyone is aware of new knowledge and insights leading to the development of world-leading campaigns and innovative behaviour change interventions.

The opportunity to learn and get inspired by the activities and ideas shared by other network members is valuable.
